During a meeting at Monroe-Woodbury High School on Wednesday, the New York State Federation Council awarded the state Federation basketball tournament to the Times-Union Center in Albany. The ends — at least temporarily — the ties between the tournament and the Glens Falls Civic Center, which hosted the event since 1981.
Binghamton and Long Island were other contenders.
One of Albany’s primary pitches was that it could raise the profile of the tournament. Clearly, with sparse crowds that pale in comparison to the boys public school state championships, the Federation has been lacking.
