Update, 7:45 p.m.: The game will start in about 20 minutes. I will check back with updates then as Haldane tries to continue its defense of the gold ball and Valhalla aims for revenge. Thanks to Carp for last game’s updates.
Update, 8:20 p.m.: It has been a slow start for both teams, which have combined to shoot 1 for 22 from the field in the first quarter (thanks to Brian Heyman for the stat). Nonetheless, Haldane leads Valhalla 5-0.
Update, 8:30 p.m.: Things have picked up. Haldane now leads Valhalla 7-4. Tamara Tribble helped Valhalla get on the scoreboard.
Update, 8:40 p.m.: Haldane leads 10-8 at halftime.
Update, 9:07 p.m.: This time I’m serious when I say the action has picked up. Haldane leads 20-16 after three quarters. It led 20-12 thanks to a 3 from Liz Milner and two short jumpers from Katlyn Mastrantone. But Tribble helped lead Valhalla back. She scored six of her 10 points in the third quarter, including two free throws in the final minute that cut the deficit to just four.
Update, 9:20 p.m.: Haldane leads 25-19 with 3:32 to play. Kristen DesMarais just made a pair of FTs to push the lead to six.
Update, 9:24 p.m.: Haldane leads 28-21 with 1:45 to play and has the ball. The score was cut to four after a basket by Lauren Yazzetta, but Milner responded with a three-point play. That could be enough in a game this low scoring.
Update, 9:29 p.m.: Milner added another three-point play with a minute to play. The senior finished with 16 points to lead Haldane to another victory over Valhalla, 31-22. Haldane will play in the championship (again) on Tuesday at 4. The Blue Devils draw No. 2 North Salem.
