The all-state teams for all five classes have been announced. The headliners are in Class B, where Irvington’s Gina Maher was named coach of the year after guiding the Bulldogs to state and Federation championships. And Nanuet senior Lauren Kahn was named the Class B state player of the year.
Kahn was one of six Section 1 players who were named first-team all-state. She was joined by Tara Gabelman and Riley Harrington of Irvington on the Class B first team. North Salem’s Danielle Fiacco was named first-team all-state in Class C. Lakeland’s Tori Jarosz and Pearl River’s Christa Scognamiglio received the same honor in Class A. The highest honoree in Class AA was Mount Vernon’s Taylor Palmer, who was named third team. It should also be noted that former Ardsley student, Kyra Alozios, a senior at Archbishop Molloy, was also on the third team.
Here’s a look at all the all-state teams below. It will appear after the jump.

HAHA thanks for putting this up Josh, it’s quite comical.
THERE IS MORE TO THE GAME THAN POINTS!!!! THIS IS A JOKE.
Josh, how are these teams picked?
Great job ladies!! Section one should be proud!! Well represented.
Baller, please don’t post when you are drunk anymore.
Josh great job picking them early… I don’t think anyone can say you don’t know talent when you see it.
Old 6th man excerpt..Jan 24, 2007
Please name your top five freshmen?
(Please keep in mind I haven’t seen everyone play so there are probably others)
Tori Jarosz, Lakeland
Taylor Palmer, Ursuline
Chelsea LoBue, Scarsdale
Kyra Aloizos, Ardsley
Jameisha Parker, Ramapo
Not a bad call on Tori, Kyra and Taylor.. 4 years ago
You called it on the juniors as well…
Josh,
How about you set-up a vote so that we can vote certain bloggers off the island for a few days. It would be fun. Like when you set up the votes for athlete of the week.
Gina Maher is a real class act. Everyone loves and adores her. She got a LONG standing ovation at the section dinner when they mentioned her induction to the hall of fame. On the way in she knew the girls by name from opposing teams that played her and had a nice word for each of them. Irvington is very lucky indeed.
I dont want to take anything away from Lauren Kahn, but how does she get voted class B player of the year?? Gabelman deserved to be Class B player of the year. Tara won the state title and federation for crying out loud. Tara great job.
You have got to be out of your mind, tara over kahn get real.
Kahn was very deserving!! Gableman was great, but had 5 other studs on her team.
Kahn had 1 stud wit her
Kahn, Gableman, Harrington, Jentzen, they’re all deserving. Section 1 should just be proud it went to one of their players. I don’t believe Kahn or Jentzen got it last year-Postell?? maybe. if so 2 years in a row for section 1, it shows what great talent we have here.
Any word on a college for T.GABLEMAN?
Congratulations Coach of the Year, GINA MAHER. Not just a great role model for her players, but for other Coaches also. She is truly a classy lady who understands her role as a scholastic coach, teacher and role model. To know her is to love her.
Josh…what are your thoughts for next year?
AA-Mount Vernon
A- Peekskill
B- Briarcliff
C- Haldane
future hoops… Here are my final four picks:
Class AA: Ossining, Mount Vernon, Carmel, Ursuline or White Plains
Class A: Peekskill, Pearl River, Brewster, Albertus Magnus
Class B: Briarcliff, Irvington, Woodlands, Dobbs Ferry or Edgemont
Class C: Haldane, Hamilton, Keio and ??? (only six teams made the playoffs this year, three go to B, but Tuckahoe, which did not have a program this season, could be the fourth).
Also, the teams are compiled by the sports editor of the Oneonta Daily Star, with help from representatives from each area (Sections 1 thru 11, plus PSAL and CHSAA). It is similar to how the state rankings are compiled each week.
would love to know where Shanyce Stewart and Tara Gabelman are going to college.
