A couple people have mentioned the Empire State Games lately and said that the team was finalized last night. Well, there was a cut yesterday, paring the team down to 16, but the roster has not yet been finalized.
The remaining players will practice together before the team is trimmed to the final roster count of 10. The rest of the players will be named alternates in case any of the 10 cannot play in the Games for any reason.

Josh,
Any Girls basketball info for next season????
Any additional games at the County Center during the season???
Any new leagues? New players?
When will the ESG roster be posted.
When the roster is finally picked
It has not been picked yet. There is no date set for when it will be finalized.
I agree with 2010 2011…lets hear some thoughts for next season of girls basketball!
Whats up next year? I hear someinteresting stories about next w inter,
@HOOP WHATS THE GOOD WORD?
The big story for next year so far is the exit of coaches. Another prominent local coach is out, but I’ll let that news make its way via an announcement by the school which I expect shortly.
Zapford, could that be a coach from a Putnam high school by any chance?
Rumor is new TZ coach and some girls are not happy…no idea if accurate
Bball5 -heard the same thing! Sad when the less qualified guy gets it over the more qualified candidate because he is a teacher in district while the more qualified coach is a teacher from another district
what about the Rockland teams?who will be solid?heres my .02 cents
Pearl River-team to beat, will reach county center.Scoglomiglio,Grossbard,Loghane all return with the great Moylan at reighns
Albertus Magnus-should be solid and 2nd best team in Rockland..good coach…deCruz,Spicer, paehaus, and returning Richards will make them competiitve
Clarkstown North..Kerry Sulivan whipped them into shape last year and will return with more confidence Destaso, and Brianne Schneider + others will help them be succesfull
Tappan Zee-unkown how they will respond to new coach but pretty talented group led by Megan Curran,Argenzio, and Devonna Paul
North Rockland-they had a strong JV team hopefuly someone can help the present varsity girls.Corrretjer and Fiona Pierre are the returnning veterans and will be helped by Rivera.Hopefully it goesbetter for 2nd year coach MMetcalf
Suffern-losing 2 big guns in Jeffrson, and Schmidt hopefully the uber-talented Baccas and guard Wood can gel and get the rest of the team around them
Clarkstown South-Reichert and Buechli will be returning and they will be young time will tell
Nyack-Mcnair and Tess B return but Soukas will be desp missed
Nanuet-unfortunately they will drop the most-hard to replace the best tandem in years in Kahn & Jentzen…Fitzgerald,Miller and Lisa Kahn hopefully can win some games for them
Ramapo-???
Spring valley???
Judging by how Spring Valley did late in the year vs Magnus keeping it to 5pts and a better showing than a lot of other teams vs Irvington, they could be a team to do well in Rockland.
Anyone coming out of A in Rockland is going to have to deal with Peekskill.
Nanuet will drop the most, go 6-12
North Rockland will increase the most, 9-9 maybe
Spring Valley should be good, but you never know.
Pearl River should get to the A Final vs Peekskill.
Clark South cant get worse.
North should win AA Rockland League again.
Suffern might drop a little.
Ramapo will drop off without Basqauit.
Albertus will have an outside shot at Rockland Small league title and A Sectional title. A hair behind Pearl River.
TZ, should be middle of the road.
,
Rockland Small School
Pearl River-Coach Moylan will have Nicole G,Christa S,and loghane work hard with the other varsity girls(only losing Mulligan) will go 8-0 in league,16-0 in Rockland and will go to county center
Albertus magnus-return Decruz,Spicer, and M.Paerhaus and with Richards returning from ACL repair Coach McGuiness will have the girls ready and they will be 2nd best team in league and 2nd best in Rockland
Tappan Zee-word is new coach..if its the JV coach(that was rumored to want the job)its up in the air how they will do..if it is the asst varsity coach they will be solid.Curran will be a leader and is complemented by Argenzio a very good point guard and Devonna Paul + a couple kids from JV could step up to help out
Nyack-will miss leadership of Soukas at guard and Coach Shepard will hve an inexpierenced squad with the exception of McNair who is getting some serious D1 looks .T Bosley has to step up and play big in order to help out
Nanuet-Coach Fidalgo loses 4 of his starting 5 I believe and is in for a rough road-he knows how to coach and had some good horses to ride in previuos years to ride(lauren Kahn and KC Jentzen)
Spring Valley-always an athletic group just don’t know eneough about them
Rockland Big School
Clarkstown North-Coach Sullivan prepared her team well in 09-10 and will have 1 more varsity expierence..they will win their league and probably go 7-1 or 8-0 with D.Destaso leading the way.Schneider and Zucker have varsity exp and with a solid jv squad good things are due-wont go far in sections though
North Rockland-will get a bunch more wins in league and non-league this year Coach Metcalf will have Rivera,Pierre,Moore,Corretjer from last years roster and has a few good young players from JV-they will probably finish 2nd or 3rd in big school(flip flop with Suffern).Hopefully they can peak at the right time and make it past 1st rd of sections
Suffern-The suffern Coach loses 2 of his big players from last year (jefferson and schmidt) but has 3 returning varsity starters in Califano,Wood, and Baccas(who I hear is being recruited by some big D1 schools)The Suffern coach and his team won’t advance past the first round of sections(like the previous 2 years) if they make it at all
Clarkstown South-they will fiinsh where they were last year the offense will revve around Reichert and they had good young guard(Riley???)
Ramapo-losing Basquit and a couple of seniors will hurt them alot-look for them to go 2-6 in the league
Rockland Champion-pearl river over Cl North
The word that I have heard is that Sarah Mesuch from Lourdes is close to being named the new coach at Haldane High School. Also it appears that Mike Krieger is heavily involved in the Lourdes decision, which probably means one of his daughters will end up with the job, which will be hardly the big name coach we are looking for. I still think they should look at one of the beacon coaches or Al Viani
Any word on the new Mahopac coach?
Haldane lost their coach again?
Thats like 5 coaches in 6 years
