Alot of guards. Who’s going to get a REBOUND.
Good point, there is no front court players on the team, certainly none that are dominant rebounders. I don’t think any of the better players from the city will be anywhere near Buffalo so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
What are the players doing with regards to their AAU teams if they are comitting to this sways??providing these are the best players on their respected teams, there must be a lot of angry AAU coaches .
9 of the starters and 3 alternates AAU coaches are also the Empire Coaches
Ricci coaches 1 starter & 1 alternate
Reilly coaches 6 of the starters and 2 alternates
Fioretti coaches 2 starters
was at some of the tryouts and they were very fair! alos like the way Reilly and Ricci run the team
Most of these players are done playing AAU end of June. None of these girls really travel to the NCAA certified events in July where college coaches are watching.
actually the majority of them play on an aau team that does NCAA certified events in July-they just have to miss the last big one for Empires
Stop It ,does your daughter even play AAU? One of the largest regional showcases is Penn.State and it’s 5days long …Oh,in July
Yes she does play AAu basketball and her NYC team will be in KY and TN during Penn st and Georgia during ESG.
stop it , how does your daughter like playing for New Heights??
stop it
why the negativity. who does your daughter play for
For the record! The ESG is an Olympic style event that all College Coaches can attend. It is always well attended by D1 College Coaches in the Northeast. Most of the MAAC, Ivy, Patriot, NEC, Amer. East coaches are always there and the local Big East and A10 Universities attend also. Even though it is not certified by the NCAA, it has an automatic exemption because it is an Olympic style State run event.
Also, there are 4 major certified events that most of the Metro area AAU teams attend. The biggest by far in the Country is in Chicago (The Nike Summer Showcase), last year it had 297 teams from 48 states and 3 other countries. The most important thing is that it is attended by almost 600 college coaches, which covers just about every University and College (D1, D2, D3 and Juco) in the Country. The next Best certified event is just an AAU organizations preference. The USA Invitational at Penn State University and the USJN in Washington DC are 2 of the best attended by AAU organizations. By far they are the second best attended event by College Coaches, with over 300 College Coaches attending every year. Even though these 2 tournaments use US in their name and call it Invitational’s and Nationals it is only a Brand Name run by Blue Chip and Blue Star, it has nothing to do with the US or Nationals. The last major event is one that is attended the least by east coast AAU organizations and that is in Oregon (The Oregon Trail). After these 4 events, Nike, Addias and Fila run other certified events throughout the Country which are very good and are a good fit for some AAU organizations. There are also smaller local certified events that are run very well by organizations throughout the Country, in our area The Future Stars run these types of events.
Looking at The ESG roster and the AAU websites in which these student athletes play, it looks like all the girls will be playing in Major Certified events for their organizations in the July viewing period. Most of these events will not interfere with the ESG. When looking at The Lady Knick website my research found that the girls on The Lady Knick 16 Black team will be in Chicago at The Nike Summer Showcase, at Penn State for the USA Invitational, before taking a break for the ESG. After the ESG they are back in action in The South at either the Addias Nationals or the Fila Nationals.
It looks like the 6 AAU organizations that the student athletes on the ESG roster play for are doing a very good job in showcasing the girl’s talent in July. The ESG only enhances a girls chance to be seen in a great light by College Coaches.
Stop it
I guess that answers your question about local teams playing in national tournaments. NYC teams are not the only ones who get exposure. Maybe next time you should do a little research.
When your right your right , I apologize for those statements. I didnt realize there were so many Lady Knicks 16’s on the roster. In looking at there July schedule they have a GREAT summer travel schedule. I wish them luck on the road and in ESG.
stop it daughter does not play for new heights maybe gauchos who will be in ky and georgia and tenn.
What are the 6 AAU organizations represented? I see 9 girls from the Lady Knicks and Chong. Caretaker, I see the Lady Knicks travel schedule but these other orgianizations your talking about are not traveling in July. And definetly are not going to the Big 3 tournaments Nike,Addidas,Fila Nationals. Hooper X2 I think we know one another. I love girls basketball.
Who cares that your kid is going to Tenn and Kentucky. Is she going to UConn or Stanford. No. Not every player and parent are interested in travelling all over the country. More than half the time it doesnt work out for the kid anyway unless she is lights out. Not many lights out players with the exception of one or two in Sec 1. You come off as condesending when you make these statements.
Stop it’s daughter does not play for the Gauchos because his dates are wrong. There’s no conflict between Penn State and KY/TN, and between ESG and Georgia. The conflict is between USJN in DC and Georgia. Nice try stop it. How about Ring City?
I meant the conflict is between ESG and USJN in DC.
stop it-was that you I spoke to today at Kean University???if it was good catching up with you..
most aau teams go to “showcases”for D2 & 3 in June & then hit some of the major D1,2,3 showcases like PennState,Chicago,Battle of Baltimore,FDU Classic,USJN Nationals, etc during the “open viewing period” and being that Coach Ricci,Fioretti,Reilly are coaching aau teams that go to showcases they will just not showcase or schedule their team when Empires are going on
The tryouts were pretty fair(imo) and while it looks like their are a lot of Lady Knicks(which my daughter doesn’t play for)it would make sense that alot of them made the team when out of 29 at the 1st tryout 23 were Lady Knicks.I think Coach Ricci, and Reilly gave everyone a fair shot and run sold -uptempo practices, anyone at the tryouts could easily see the top 5(whaitaker,Chong,DeCRuz,Horne,Milner..again imo) and I could honsetly say I agree with 8 of the 10 that made the team…Good luck girls go for the Gold
???Mountie Hoops did your daughter get cut? Why was tryouts pretty fair? Just wanted to know for the future for my daughter.
Nope not me off this weekend training. But we do know one another. Also wanted to know if the tryouts were fair?
Information. She didn’t get cut,she is one of the alternates and while discouraged that she did nt make top 10 -she is using the hard practices to become a better player and increase her chances of getting to thenext level. IMO yes even if you are a non-ladyknick you get a fair shake
Ok Mr Stop It,thought you were a parent of another team….sorry..I have a good idea that I know you also (and think highly of you and your daughter) did I ever coach one of your younger daughters?
And yes tryouts were fair!
Which 2 do you think shouldnt have made it. Based on seeing all these kids play there is clearly a big difference between the 10 chosen and the alternates. Coaches doing a nice thing by not cutting anyone and allowing all the kids who made the tryouts to continue to practice with the team. It wil definetly help their game by practicing with this group.
I have learned from the past not to be negative and won’t name them as that would be wrong(and is only my opinion-not only as a parent but as a coach-and we know there are diferent approachs).I think the team will do well & Ricci and Reilly will have them ready
My position remains that the girls have an obligation to the players and their coaches on their AAU teams to be there .And no my daughter wasn’t cut
Aldo feel the same way?
Shocking turn of events this weekend. It seems and don’t quote me on this, the Ladyknicks who are a very talented very respected team were having difficulties this weekend at the Comets tournament in Philadelpia . Their coach decided they weren’t worth his time so he just didn’t show up for their game Jon Sun. Morning. The goirls scrambled together and gave their hearts out to another loss and then yet another. These girls were a few PTA away from beating a team ranked number 3in the MidAtlantic conference without their coach. Oh did I mention that he is also the coach for the ESGs of which 6 of the LadyKnicks are on, this should be interesting!!!
DIST – were you there? How do you know he bailed and didn’t have some sort of emergency or something?
Ion this buisness there is mucho networking, Everybody knows everybody and that was the talk of the tournament. Tension was running high and it wasn’t a display of concern, more of anger and confusion. If there was an emergency then correct me.As I said don’t quote me.I only stated what was told to me.
“I only stated what was told to me.”
Self convicted rumor monger.
What would Jesus do——- Jesus would be disappointed in the challenges our children have to endure at the hands of imature adults
He would also be saddened by the percentage of low quality adults that gather around and are influential in youth sports. Some of the ‘big names’ also have some major character and maturity issues.
My money is on HIM bit** slapping all you Freaking idiots.
Ok saw the roster from when the team was 1st made till the present roster &am wondering what happened to B Horne??and why spicer replaced her? Legit question! I mean first replacement would have been Hackett, second would have been abrams of nr or wood then third would have been spicer (who only made 1/3 of the tryouts)but then again isDeCruz’s best friend as well as one of Reilly’s girls???now politics and who you know really show your ugly face…......Josh-tins is not slander so don’t delete. Call me.
Every alternate was asked to practice with the team in case of injury or situations like this. This kid made it to every practice and worked hard. The others were a no show possibly due to injury or conflicts. So the right thing was to bring the kid who has practiced with the team for the last 2 months. All i can say is the team is stronger in its current state with kids that share the ball and play both O and D.
