Another day, another trip to the century mark for the Hudson Valley scholastic basketball team.
Hudson Valley quest for a repeat of its 2008 gold medal continued today. The girls routed Long Island 106-40 at Niagara University’s Gallagher Center behind seven players who scored in double figures.
Teneka Whittaker of Lourdes led the team with 21 points. Brittani Lai and Lillian McCabe each added 15. Alexis Martins scored 14 with Saniya Chong (11) and Raegan Knox (10) also reaching double figures.
The girls’ unselfish style was evident yet again. They sank 14 3-pointers, and the shooting helped built a 69-12 halftime lead.
“The kids played real hard, even harder than yesterday,” Hudson Valley coach Dan Ricci said. “We had great defensive pressure and were extremely unselfish.”
The scholastic team still has one more game but have basically assured itself a spot in the gold medal game. Even if it were to lose, it would fall into a tiebreaker at worst. The tiebreaker? Point differential. At +127, I’d wager to say Hudson Valley is pretty safe.

57 point lead at half, what a waste of time
Horne did the right thing by going out with gauchos she’s a major D1 talent see needs to be seen. I think Whittaker made a mistake by hanging around.
Totally agree.
