I wanted to pass along this information that I was given, listing the girls basketball all-time leading scorers in Rockland County history.
Last month saw the boys basketball list compiled and now it’s time to shed the light on the girls all-time scorers.
This list has been compiled with the help of several Rockland sports historians: John Mercurio, Dick Yerg, Bill Madden, Jamie Kempton, and our very own editor John Humenn. But the contributions don’t stop there. Lorraine Moylan, Rich Korn, Kevin Metcalf, Matt Sullivan, Frank Mazzuca, Kerry Sullivan, Tess Brogan, Becky Miller, Pat Buckley, Austin Goldberg, Dan White, Darren Shepard, Joe Siglio, Bill Pilla, Alan Malden, and Tom Collins have all had a hand in updating these records.
And of course, thanks also goes out to the great Tom Doherty for piecing everything together.
There are many circumstances which can help land a player on this list including and it’s important to take a look at some of these factors: Number of years played on varsity, length of a season, 3-point line and shot clock, and the always important, actual playing time.
So without further ado, here is the Rockland County all-time scoring leaders:
1. Stephanie Cleary, Tappan Zee HS, Class of 2001, (5 yrs) — 2,155 points

Great List with Great Players. Many Thanks to all who help make this list…..
ROCKLAND RULES !
Great list…( even though a Rockland fan- any chance you will do the same for westchester?)
Uh-Oh Mountie, You KNOW what’s gonna happen once ANYTHING is posted about Westchester’s players. As far as I recall a band of crazies resides in a small town on the East side of the Hudson. Requesting a Westchester list from the JN is akin to simply shouting “Let the games begin”!!! I’m putting my seat belt on immediately. Gentlemen, start your engines.
Now now Stanner grad- I think SC is talented( very talented..my daughter played aau with her last year and I do like here) want to see some of the history of Westchester (+SC won’t be on the list till after 2013)...that’s all just would like to see some history
Mountie, I totally agree. I was just having some fun. I would also like to see such a list. Good job.
Come on guys… Did you have to say SC. Can’t we have one entire blog without chief coo coo and hsbcfan and all the other crazies! ?? OK- where’s Bernardo? He’s my man…..
BTW- I love the above list. Some great history there- PR and Nyack- WOW !
It appears that this list was formulated by some coaches and rockland bball people. This is far from an easy job. My hat is off to the contributors….. Nice Job!
MT. MAN Hoops- Don’t hold your breath for a Westchester list….
I think only 2 players from rockland would be in the top ten in westchester/putnam/dutchess

Sheila Wagner, Peekskill 1981-86 2,476 Points
Cusena Newton, Hamilton 1982-87 2,384 Points
Margo Hackett, Pawling 2007-11 2,266 Points
Joann Balsamo, Somers 1984-88 2,254 Points

Tom Doherty
This might be old news and I missed it but is it true that Coach Hamlin left Brewster and is returning to Briarcliff?
Heard he quit Brewster wants his job back at. Bc. Who knows
Tom Doherty, What about Lisa Moray of Ketcham she had 2000 + points?
High Tops,
Thanks for the tip on Lisa! I went back to re-check the NYSSWA Girls 2000 Point Club List and Lisa’s name is definitely not listed. Can you forward me more info on her at tommydoherty@optonline.net I will then get in contact with John Moriello, Neil Kerr and the good folks at NYSSWA!
Tom Doherty, Lisa played at ketcham 1998-2004 scored 2021 Points
High Tops,
Thanks for the follow-up, I sent your info to John Moriello & the NYSSWA gang!
Will keep you posted!
Impressive list one thing that struck me was while some teams struggle to get 1 1 ,000 pt scorer( it’s a real tough thing) but imagine 2 girls playing 4 years at a high level both scoring 1,000 pts…that’s damn impressive ( Lauren Kahn and KC jentzen. Nanuet 2010)
Hey Mountie- I guess you coached them too. U R A LOOOOSER !!!
Nope never claimed/ said that just giving props to 2 talented kids..guess you mr d-bag are one of my friends..stay hidden behind your screen name as you have no b****
@suffern hoops..how many did u blow in the 4 th?
Suffern hoops-play nice. Mountie hoops-dont get hooked. Guys this was one of the most grownup conversations on this blog till now
Kelly McManus and Betsy McManus, Pearl River, also 2 girls from the same team. I agree Mountie that is very impressive for these 4 girls.

High Tops,
Sorry for the long delay in responding!!
Yes you are 100% correct that Lis Moray belongs on this prestigious list as follows:
#11-Lisa Moray, RC Ketcham, 1998-2004, 2021 points
Sadly, I also learned during my research that Lisa died in an accident a few years ago.
May She Rest in Peace!
