On another light day, here are today’s match ups. I’ll be covering the Ursuline at Ardsley game and on Wednesday, I’ll be checking out the Rye vs. Byram Hills contest. Mike will be covering the Tappan Zee at Blind Brook game Friday. We will both have live updates on Twitter: @PhilTerrigno and @Zacchio_LoHud
** Game of the night: Ursuline at Ardsley, 4:30 p.m.
PHIL SEZ: This is the first time that I’m getting a chance to see Beth Wooters’ squad this season (I was initially supposed to see them against Mount Vernon but the game was cancelled) and I’m interested to see how Alyssa Lawrence (pictured left, blocking) plays after returning from a knee injury. I’ve seen Ardsley twice and its squad really runs through the hot shooting touch of senior guard Toni Pilla (shown bottom right, driving). Ardsley has shown that it can score in bunches (71 vs. Woodlands, 72 vs. Yonkers) but the squad struggled to contain proficient post players (ex: two lopsided losses to Irvington). In fairness, Irvington beats most opponents handily, but Ursuline features a D-1 forward of its own in Lawrence. The Koalas picked up a marquee win against Mount Vernon last week, a squad that recently ended New Rochelle’s 11-game winning streak. I like the Koalas in this one, 59-48.

MIKE SEZ: One thing I’ve noticed about the season, or any sport in general, is how greatly momentum can affect a team, both good and bad. Since Lawrence’s return against Scarsdale on Jan. 17, the Koalas have won all three of their games with a decisive victory margin of 17 points per game. Ardsley has shown they can score, but for the most part, this young squad floats around the 50’s on the scoreboard. I think both Phil and I are on about the same page as far as score goes, it’s all a matter of how Ardsley shoots today. Either way, I think Lawrence is going to have an enormous game (probably somewhere in the 20 point-15 rebound range) and really be a hassle for the Panthers. Koalas win their fourth in-a-row, 65-49.
