Sorry this is a bit late, but today’s schedule is listed below. I will be providing live coverage of the cross-bridge battle between Tappan Zee at Blind Brook at 4:30 p.m., so for updates, follow me on Twitter at @Zacchio_LoHud.
Can sharp-shooting guard Kristen McLaughlin (pictured below) get the Dutchies back to their winning ways? Or will Blind Brook’s 1-2 punch of Ali Silfen and Jackie Lavitt keep the Trojans charging strong towards the postseason? We’ll find out tonight.
There are several quality match ups today that will provide a very appropriate end to the week. Obviously, the TZ-Blind Brook should be a great game, but you also have the rematch between Pearl River-North Rockland (which, judging by the comments all week, should be very highly anticipated) on the Rockland side, and Mount Vernon-Ursuline in Westchester.
Update: Brewster at Yorktown has been postponed due to Brewster being on early dismissal.

Nr vs Pr will be good…bigger court will help North Rockland a bit but still see PR winning ..Nr doesn’t have the defensive prowess to hang the whole game…PR 52-NR 49
Any updates on pr/nr? It said 4 pm start..it’s now 5:12 should be some halftime score…No?
@holla good game PR 89 NR 66.
PR 89-66 over NR
Wasn’t at the game but Didnt Coach Metcalf make any adjustments?? We know during a game he has a tough time during a game but he had 4 days..come on coach. Defense defense or you will exit the sections after one round
NR has to learn to play defense…as the saying goes, defense wins games, the offense tells you by how much.
NR will never get to the next level until they start playing more unselfish offense and some defense. Some players seem to be okay with a loss as long as they got their pts.
@Pitfruck and CHSAA
NR handled the press better…still had turnovers in the back court which led to double figure points for PR. No defensive adjustments were made while PR was shooting the lights out from the outside. More uncontested jump shots. NR never got back on defense. PR scored 89 points which is ridiculous. PR has an offensive system. NR has NO offensive system. They run and they have Bertolino, Rivera, and Burden. Give the ball to those three and encourage them to go at the defense and score as many points as they can. That’s not how you play basketball. That’s how you play street ball. If NR can install an offense and utilize the strengths of their best offensive players, they may win games against good teams. Oh, and Coach Metcalf…don’t forget…DEFENSE!!!
I know Metcalf from a distance but have no relationship with him or his team. Always seemed like a decent coach to me albeit with a little chip on his shoulder. Despite that, several of you seem to have an extreme bias against him. I wonder if you are being fair or are you disgruntled because your daughters don’t play as much as you think they should? Just askin’
CHSAA and Bert
I agree with both of you that their defense is hurting them alot and they will never get to the next level until they start too. However I do believe that the coach is responsible for getting them to play together and unselfishly!! Until he does that it will all be about them getting their points like Not surprised mentioned above. A very talented team from what I have seen and only hope that they can pull it all together before the playoffs start!
Maybe the problem with NR defense was PR. Offensive. Give the PR girls credit they had to mk those shots
@stanner grad. No daughter in the program-fan of Rockland bball. @bballjunkie. PR is good but North Rockland ’s defense has been pourous all season. When you play Suffern and East Ramapo and give up 50+ pts to teams that aren’t offensive juggernauts(they both are in mid 30’s for scoring) then you have to look look at your teams lack of defensive presence. They have a big game coming up vs Cl South and if metcalf wants at least a share of the league title better start practicing some defense
@StannerGrad
No daughter on the team. Great fan of high school girls basketball. Enjoy watching all the Rockland county teams play. Agreed coach Metcalf with not a little chip on his shoulder but a big chip and arrogance which will not win him games that he should be winning. He needs to start coaching and teaching. He has a tremendous amount of talent on his team that he should be winning more games with. PR playing great right now and peaking at the right time. Great coach getting the most out of her team right now on both ends of the floor. Very unselfish and play great team basketball.
@Bert, Again I was just asking but if a team has had a poor defense all season it is unlikely that they will significantly improve in the next two weeks. I’m neither blaming nor excusing the way Metcalf prepares his team but I just think some of you have other motives when you comment about NR’s coach. And btw, this is HS Basketball. So many of the bloggers lose sight of this.
Very, very well said Stanner.
