Hofstra is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association and is currently in 5th place out of 11 teams (9-10, 5-3).
The 5’5’’ guard played five seasons at PHS and was named to the All-New York State Class A first team as a junior and senior. She averaged 14.3 ppg during her senior season. Jackson is cousins with former Peekskill standout Mookie Jones, who played at Syracuse from 2009-2012.
Jackson, a freshman, was named the CAA’s Co-Rookie of the Week on Jan. 7 after averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 steals and two rebounds against Norfolk State and William & Mary. Jackson was also named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the same period.
For the season, Jackson has appeared in 19 games while starting six and has averaged 5.3 ppg in 20 minutes. For more information on other former Section 1 athletes playing in college, my colleague Dan DeFrancesco manages the @LoHudCollege Twitter account and writes the weekly college notebook, which appears in The Journal News on Sundays.
