Hamilton’s woes continued Thursday afternoon, as the Red Raiders dropped their third consecutive contest without seniors Maia Hood and Tiffany Corselli in the lineup. Despite a very impressive night from Jasmine Robinson (34 points, four rebounds, six blocks and five steals), the Red Raiders could not hold on against Blind Brook, who went on to win the league contest, 58-50.
The Trojans were paced by seniors Ally Silfen and Jackie Lavitt, who scored 19 points and 18 points, respectively. Fellow senior Lea Saliba had 11 points.
With the regular season winding down, many teams clinched their respective league titles tonight, which you can read about in the game recaps below. (We will make a separate post for league winners at a later date)
In dramatic fashion, the Clarkstown South Lady Vikings overcame a 13-point halftime deficit against Suffern to win their second consecutive undefeated Conference 4-A league title. Junior forward Laura Castaldo (pictured below) scored 28 points for the Vikings (14-4) in the 44-37 win. South had just three players score in the game, as Allison Haugh (9 points) and Maddy Downes (7 points) added points for the Lady Vikings. For Suffern, Toni Johnson scored 11 points, while Deja Smith added 10 points.

Lakeland 45, Hen Hud 42: At Hen Hud, Kate Weldon scored 13 points for the Hornets, who trailed by 15 points at the half. Nikki Kardias added nine points. Amy Glashoff scored 12 points for the Sailors. With the win, Lakeland clinched a share of the Conference 1-C league title with Peekskill.
Pawling 52, Solomon Schechter 17: At Solomon Schechter, Jesse Espinet and Brittany Lefkovits each scored four points for the Lions, who clinched the Conference 2-A league title on Monday. The Lions ended the season with a 9-8 record after dropping their first six games.
Croton-Harmon 53, Westlake 44, OT: At Croton-Harmon, senior captain Grace Mulligan scored 21 points, and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in overtime on Senior Day. Kate Dymes added 13 points. Faith Lovett scored 16 points for the Wildcats, including five 3-pointers.
Ursuline 62, Mamaroneck 31: At Ursuline, Alyssa Lawrence had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Koalas (13-5), who clinched the Conference 2-B league title. Grace Brennan added 12 points.
Rye Neck 36, Keio 28: At Rye Neck, Paige O’Donnell had 16 points and 16 rebounds. Sae Toyomura had 14 points for the Unicorns.
Palisade Prep 32, Yonkers Montessori 11: At Palisade Prep, Paula Richards scored 11 points.
Bronxville 44, Tuckahoe 24: At Tuckahoe, Ellie Walsh scored 16 points. Cassandra McGrath scored 11 points for the Tigers.
North Rockand 72, East Ramapo 50: At North Rockland, Alex Bertolino had 24 points. Chloe Mullarkey had 11 points. Kiah Armstrong had 14 points for East Ramapo.
Horace Greeley 52, Rye 50: At Rye, Jackie Brett hit two free throws with :04 left. Brett finished with 22 points. Sam Srinivasan had 17 points. Alanna Morque had 20 points for Rye.
Kennedy 53, Putnam Valley 15: At Kennedy, Kiera Hennessy had 13 points and eight rebounds in limited time. Shayna Gaskins added 10 points and eight rebounds, also in limited action.
Haldane 45, North Salem 41: At North Salem, Liz Khadabux scored 16 points. Sydney Cardoza scored 16 points for the Tigers.
Woodlands 67, Harrison 58: In the semifinals of the Dapper McDonald’s Classic at Woodlands, Imani Tilford had 21 points and seven rebounds. Shanice Perry added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Niya Khan added 16 points. Paige Brabant scored 13 points for the Huskies. Woodlands will host the winner of Fox Lane-Port Chester in the championship on Sunday at 5 p.m. Harrison will play in the consolation at 1 p.m.
Here are Phil Terrigno’s post-game notes from the Somers at John Jay game:
CROSS RIVER — John Jay (11-7) topped Somers (9-8) 41-33 on Senior Night.
The team’s seniors, Sydney Glenn, Sarah Lang and Delaney Spencer were honored before the game in a ceremony in which members of the team read short tributes to each of the girls.
“We started off down, we weren’t shooting well at all,” John Jay’s Delaney Spencer said. “We stuck together, we didn’t get down on each other when the shots weren’t falling.”
Center Sarah Lang led John Jay with 15 points and Spencer added 10. Sasha Puglisi scored nine points.
Early on, John Jay controlled the boards but was unable to turn rebounds and second chance opportunities into points.
“If I know that I cant get a good feel on the ball then I know that my best bet is to tap it back to my teammates,” Lang said. “Once we slowed it down, we got control of the ball again.”
Spencer added: “The whole senior day thing, it was very emotional for all of us. We didn’t come out with the intensity. Once we settled down, we were able to grab rebounds and convert it in the paint.”
Somers is coached by Kristi Dini, a 2005 Putnam Valley grad who played collegiately at Boston University (2009).
Dini played one season of professional basketball in Germany before coaching Briarcliff’s girls squad last season.
“I don’t think our record or the score of this game is the team that we are,” Dini said. “We were one for five from the free throws to start the game and we had two huge turnovers in the third quarter.”
Somers led 17-10 in the second quarter but allowed the Indians to close the half on a 7-0 run.
Nicole DeMase led Somers with nine points and Emma Schurr added seven.

You would think there would be more of a write up on Pawlings girls stats…after all schechter are league winners and only scored 17 points

Wow, what a terrible blow to Mia and family. Is it me or have their been way too many ACL tears this year??
There is always too many ACL tears.
But for women athletes it the most common unfortunately.
Before someone chimes in with the too much playing time it has more to do with how womens knees are built. I’m saying this after having 2 daughters go down with ACL’s and being told by their surgeon.
Mia work hard at rehabbing. One of my kids came back to run in the 4X100 in the states so it works.
