Albertus Magnus over Somers in OT
Section 1 has to do something about these teams from weak leagues stealing top seeds. Sleepy Hollow as a 2 seed was a joke, Saunders as the 1 seed in Class A for girls soccer in the fall was terrible, Yonkers as the 1 seed fr Class A baseball last spring too, it upsets the balance of the whole tournament structure.
How is there no recap for all the girls games??!! Shame on you !!!
What about a recap of the 55-50 win by NewRo over Mt Vernon—heard it went right down to the wire!!!
Any idea what the status of Jalay Knowles is? She went down with an ankle injury
LUBIRDIA GORDON,CONGRATS ON A NICE HIGH SCHOOL CAREER,GOOD LUCK AT WEST VIRGINIA
Blame the lazy coaches for not calling the scores and stats in. Not the reporters fault for not hunting down a coach too lazy to call it in. Get a life.
Did North Rockland come out of that zone yet?
Great job Clarkstown south. Keep it going!!!!!
@marcus. Things won’t change at NR /they will stay in zone/not adjust/and keep failing to get to the county center as long as Metcalf keeps coaching the way he does. He really should spend the next few weeeks watching some defensive teams like Pearl River
To Hudson River – As long as Section 1 seeds its tournament, based upon the current methods, without placing stronger emhasis on “Strength of Schedule/Strength of Opponents” we will continue to see teams of this nature getting higher seeds for sectionals. It doesn’t matter the sport. You will see teams from Upper Dutchess County and Rockland County having to travel, say to the City of Yonkers, to play one of the High School Teams from Yonkers, who get a #1 or #2 seed in Sectionals, just to find out that the lower seeded team who has to travel, ends up beating the higher seeded team
Sadly, Interscholastic Athletics in the City of Yonkers is simply not at the same level as it was 25 or 30 years ago. You are seeing the elite athletes who reside in Yonkers, attending Parachocal or Prep School, to play sports rather than playing for one of the city teams (Better exposure elsewhere).
Maybe the answer is to COMBINE all of the City Schools and have 1 unified YONKERS team for all sports? Just an thought
Sleepy hollow, lakeland.and beacon.were all upset, so how in the world is.Yonkers the focus???
“They are a very good team; a very respected team,” Zucker said. “They do have a very good player in (UConn-bound) Saniya (Chong), as everyone knows, but I think if we come with the right mentality and right game plan, we have a chance to win.”
Ahh- good luck
Haywood, it just seems to me that she should have been more dominant. WV is going to be a totally different level.
Gordon is waaayyy to slow for D1 at that level.
I tend to agree. Hope we’re wrong.
