What a night of high school hoops Friday gave us, especially in Class A. Over the course of a few hours, our massive field was trimmed to just 31 teams fighting for an elusive gold ball in their respective classes.
The surviving teams will get to enjoy a stress-free weekend before playoffs resume on Tuesday for the Class A and B quarterfinals, where both Phil Terrigno and I will be on the road covering the action. Phil will be covering the highly-anticipated Class B contest between No. 6 Ardsley (Toni Pilla shown left) at No. 3 Kennedy, while I will be staying local (for me, anyway) to watch the mighty No. 15 Pelham Pelicans travel to No. 7 Nanuet (Dana Rohan shown below right) in a Class A showdown.
On Wednesday, both Phil and I will again be on the road to cover games, and we may even have help for a third game from our colleague Vin Mercogliano, who covered Scarsdale’s win over North Rockland on Friday. I’ll be taking the Class C contest between No. 6 Tuckahoe at No. 3 Palisade Prep, while Phil will check out the No. 5 Arlington at No. 4 Ursuline game in Class AA.
Vin may have to tend to his wrestling beat, but if he’s able to lend us a helping hand, we will let you know where he will be so you can follow us for updates. In the meantime, here’s a look at the complete quarterfinals schedule for next week:

Is it true that Woodlands trashed the Briarcliff locker room after the loss the other night? If so, what a shame. Is anyone going to take charge over there?
Interesting comment by #1 Fan. I didn’t realize that South only had five players on the roster. Let’s face it they wouldn’t have won a game without Laura.
red raiders still packed in that zone trying to weather the storm?
@Marcus…hahaha.
Pulling for the upsets tonight. One Game at a time, but hoping to go At least one step further than last year. AHS!

North Rockland ehhr oh that’s right Coach Metcalf coached them out of the sections..haha. Anyone have to talk PJ down off the ledge?
Umm Woodlands was very upset! They lead the whole game and found a way to lose that game. Coach could have been hit with a tech for walking three quarters of the way on the court. Very talented team but Briarcliff held Imani to 15 points!!!!
Any scores please

Anyone know what happened during the Nanuet game? I saw a photo on twitter with a player being down with what looked like a serious injury. Any word on the injury or update on it?
AM ran up score at the end.3 pointer and a layup at the buzzer. John Jay was not happy.
BBall fan it’s playoff time, AM making a statement by playing hard all the way to the end.
Freshman Alana Prosapio sustained a mild concussion, according to her mother. They took her to the hospital after the game, and her CAT scan came back normal.
AM shot lights out right from the start. Both coaches emptied both benches with three minutes to go in the fourth. Both sides played the remaining minutes hard as they should. It was AM’s night from behind the arc..
