After four consecutive NYSPHSAA Class B titles, as well as three Federation titles during that run, the Irvington girls basketball team has earned a reputation in New York.
Despite losing two Division-1 prospects in three-time state player of the year Lexi Martins (Lehigh) and Brittni Lai (Marist) to graduation, the Bulldogs are off to a perfect 4-0 start this season and have been ranked No. 1 in the state by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The rankings, which were announced Tuesday afternoon, feature five Section 1 teams, including three in Class AA. The local teams have been listed below, but you can view the entire rankings for each class here.

8. Peekskill (1-0) — won 2013 Section 1 championship, lost on buzzer-beater in regional semifinal
