We close out the workweek with three awesome games, two of which I will be at live.
I’m covering Hackley-Peekskill in the Tappan Zee tournament tonight at 6 p.m. and will stay to watch the Pelham-Tappan Zee game afterwards once my story is filed. Follow me on Twitter (or just track my feed on the right side of the blog) for updates. As per usual, any updates from the second game may be delayed depending on how quickly I can get my story and stats in.
Peekskill is coming off back-to-back losses — a rout against Lourdes, in which the reigning Class A champs were down as many as 35 points, and an upset at Somers on Wednesday. I’ll get my first-ever look at the NYSAIS powerhouse Hackley (including this week’s Con Edison Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Stef Frolo) and new coach Sue Altman. This promises to be an awesome game. Many are wondering what is up with Peekskill, which was ranked eighth in the state for its class on Tuesday. I’ll give you the scoop tomorrow night.
The other game to watch is Albertus Magnus-Clarkstown South. Both will be getting a boost in Sunday’s rankings, this we all know; and it will actually determine who is ranked third and who is ranked fourth (spoiler alert). Too bad this isn’t a 4 p.m. start, like most Rockland games; I would’ve loved to watch this game before heading over to Tappan Zee. Since it’s a 5:30 p.m. tip, I won’t be able to see any of it, but hopefully — rather, “most likely” — one of you trusty readers will be there to tell us all what happened.
CONTEST WINNER — TWITTER: Congratulations to Michael Zucker on being last night’s random Twitter follower selection and winner of a pair of tickets to this year’s Slam Dunk tournament. Mr. Zucker, who I presume is related to Scarsdale’s Zucker girls, if you are reading this, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as you get a chance. If Mr. Zucker (or any random Twitter winner) does not claim their tickets by Sunday night, I will have to re-draw that night. I have six tickets to give away for Thursday’s games and six tickets to give away for next Sunday; I need to make sure they are distributed evenly. It’s first come, first served. Mr. Zucker, you are the very first winner, so you have any day(s) you want. If any of you know Mr. Zucker and would kindly want to inform him of his win, not only would you be doing me a favor, but you’ll have some good karma coming your way. Who knows, he may take you!
Since I’m covering a later game tonight and won’t likely leave Tappan Zee until around 10:30 p.m., I will draw tonight’s random Twitter follower winner around 4 p.m. I use an online application to pick a random follower, video record the pick and then tweet it out to ensure that there is no foul play in the selection process.
CONTEST WINNER — QUIZ: As of 1:56 a.m., the pair of tickets from the LoHud Girls Basketball Blog quiz is still up for grabs. There is currently only one person who has submitted answers, but not all answers and bonus are correct, so it’s not a clinched win. Obviously, I can’t tell you which answers (or how many) are wrong, but since people asked, I can say that all answers are not correct, therefore, it’s still open.
The next quiz (with a chance to win another pair of tickets) will be posted at 7 p.m. sharp, at which time, the first quiz will close (unless someone answers all six questions correctly). You all have until 7 p.m. to answer the quiz questions. Good luck!
