There are still two games left to play today, but everyone is already anxiously anticipating the release of the official Section 1 girls basketball seeds.
MSG Varsity has been compiling its own “bracketology” predictions, tracking records and bonus points from around the section. Since we often cover other, smaller sports (bowling, swimming, fencing, squash, gymnastics, etc.) and we rarely get every game called in, it’s nearly impossible for us to do this.
From looking at MSGV’s projections, alongside my own, less-fancy, written-on-a-sheet-of-looseleaf projections, most of the top seeds are looking about par. It’s looking like Ossining, Beacon and Irvington will be the top seeds in Class AA, A and B, respectively. Class C is up for grabs between Haldane and Tuckahoe.
The seeding meeting is at 6 p.m. tonight, so I don’t see us having the seeds before at least 8 p.m. Nancy Haggerty will be awaiting the official word, in which time she will forward me the list and I will start typing and posting them here immediately.
I will post my predictions for each class on Wednesday, then I will host a live chat right here on the blog Wednesday night at 7 p.m. My tournament primer will be running in Thursday’s paper. I’m no where near finished and I’m already knocking on 1,000 words, just to give you an idea of what it will look like.
Now that you all have an idea of what’s going on tonight, and for the next couple of days, hopefully your minds are more at ease. I have one more day of bowling championships to cover tonight, but with any luck, I’ll have everything filed by 6 p.m. like I did tonight and I’ll be back home ready to start typing seeds when they come in.
Here’s the schedule for the final day of the regular season, along with my predictions. I can’t believe the time flew by so fast. (At least, that’s how it feels for me.)
